TCU YOUTH Program
"Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. If, however, they are left on society's margins, all of us will be impoverished. Let us ensure that all young people have every opportunity to participate fully in the lives of their societies."
– Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations
GOAL:
TCU has a cardinal goal to “accelerate connectedness with the greater community Fort Worth, Texas, the nation and the world.” This provides our focus as we pursue meaningful outreach opportunities with our community.
AWARD:
TCU Office of Extended Education has been awarded a grant from the Compassion Capital Fund Communities Empowering Youth . Under the directives of the grant we have designed the TCU YOUTH Program with the banner – Youth Organizations Unite; TCU Helps.
TCU YOUTH PROGRAM:
Through the TCU YOUTH Program we will provide professional
development and technical assistance for pre-designated non-profit and faith-based partner organizations serving youth throughout the greater Tarrant County area.
OBJECTIVES:
TCU and our YOUTH Program partners have the common objectives of providing effective and efficient services to area youth
by increasing protective factors, reducing gang involvement, youth violence,
child abuse and neglect. Through professional development TCU will help our
community partners to build their capacity, strengthen and sustain their organizations.
The TCU YOUTH Program provides a natural extension to the professional development currently offered through TCU’s academic programming and our Extended Education courses. By building the capacities and sustainability of organizations serving area youth, we build a brighter future for all of us.
