BRIDGE Student Internship Program

The BRIDGE Student Internship program is a bridge between TCU and the community. This “youth serving youth” experience provides college-age interns opportunities to work and serve in faith-based and non-profit organizations in ways that:

  1. Engage all of our TCU YOUTH Program Partners
  2. Provide targeted technical assistance
  3. Build civic-minded leaders for the future
  4. Allow students to apply classroom learning to meaningful outreach programming
  5. Give students hands-on work experience and valuable networking contacts
  6. Furnish opportunities to explore non-profit careers

Who are the BRIDGE Interns?

  1. College students  who are interested in careers in social services disciplines.
  2. Interested students outside the social service disciplines may be considered provided they have special skills of value to TCU YOUTH Program Partners: 
        i.e. computer skills, web-design, marketing, accounting systems, etc.

Structure:

  1. BRIDGE interns typically work 32 hours per week for 8 weeks in the summer
        or 10 hours per week for 16 weeks during the school year.
  2. BRIDGE Interns work with non profit and faith based agencies serving youth ages 12-21 in great Tarrant County
  3. The TCU YOUTH Program provides a financial stipend to interns for the projects they complete with our program partners.
  4. TCU college credits are available for BRIDGE Interns through the Civic Literacy Program in the Political Science Department.   
        Students are responsible for coordinating credit application and assignments with the Political Science Department.

Selection Process

  1. The BRIDGE Intern Selection Process features an  application and interview process to ensure that interns are appropriate candidates, serious about participation and possess the skills and desire to be of service to our partners.
  2. Applicants will be screened by the TCU  YOUTH Program Intern Coordinator who will then make appropriate referrals.
  3. Agencies will interview candidates and make the final selection of their interns
  4. Special consideration is given to TCU Community Scholars and applicants from underserved populations
  5. Assignments are subject to successful completion of  required screenings and background checks for each position
